DIVA™ Disc Removal Tips

What should removal feel like?

Removal should feel gentle and controlled. You may feel some pressure as you release the disc from behind your pubic bone, but you shouldn't need to use force or pull hard to remove it.

Relax your pelvic floor

Taking a few deep breaths and consciously relaxing your pelvic floor muscles can make removal easier. As you relax, your pelvic floor muscles release, which can help make your disc easier to reach.

Take a deep breath in and allow your belly to expand. As you breathe out, consciously relax your pelvic floor muscles—similar to the feeling of releasing your muscles when you urinate. Repeat this a couple of times, focusing on keeping your shoulders relaxed.

What if my disc moves higher while I'm wearing it?

Your DIVA Disc should stay securely in place once it is positioned correctly. If your disc seems to have moved higher or you're having difficulty reaching the pull-tab, take a moment to relax your pelvic floor muscles before attempting to remove it. This may help make the disc easier to reach.

Having difficulty reaching your DIVA disc?

If you’re having trouble reaching your disc, try a few rounds of box breathing, also known as square breathing. This breathing technique can help you relax and release tension in your pelvic floor muscles, which may make it easier to reach your disc.

Try box breathing:

1. Breathe in slowly for 4 seconds.
2. Hold your breath for 4 seconds.
3. Breathe out slowly for 4 seconds.
4. Hold for 4 seconds.
5. Repeat a few times, focusing on relaxing your pelvic floor.

Once you feel relaxed, try sitting on the toilet or squatting in a comfortable position. Gently reach into your vagina with your finger until you can feel the pull-tab at the front of your disc.

Once you can reach the pull-tab, hook your finger underneath it and gently pull the front rim down and forward to release the disc from behind your pubic bone. As you begin removing the disc, go slowly and keep it angled slightly upward and toward your body to help prevent spills.

Where to grip your disc

Hook your thumb under the pull-tab and use your thumb and index finger together to gently hold and guide the disc out. This can give you a more secure grip as you remove your disc.

Continue guiding the disc slowly out of the vaginal canal.

Remove it slowly and comfortably

Once the front rim is released from behind your pubic bone, gently guide the disc out. Take your time and allow the disc to gradually fold as it passes through the vaginal opening. Keeping the disc angled slightly upward and toward your body can also help minimize spills.
