How to use Period Underwear

  • Before you begin
  • Care and Cleansing
  • Capacity
  • Making it last
  • Hand Washing

    • Before wearing, machine wash in cold or warm water at a maximum 30 degrees Celsius. Use mild detergent and a delicate setting. Hang to dry. Do not bleach, iron, dry clean or tumble dry.

      How to Use Image
    • After wearing, we suggest immediately rinsing with cold water, squeezing gently, until the water runs clear. If you have DIVA Wash handy, lather a small amount into the gusset and rinse with cold water until the water runs clear. DIVA Wash is not a replacement for laundry detergent.

      How to Use Image
    • DIVA Period Underwear absorbs up to 9 regular size tampons worth of menstrual flow.

      How to Use Image
    • To ensure your period underwear lasts, always follow DIVA Period Underwear care guidelines.

For extra care, place your period underwear in a mesh delicates bag before laundering.

      How to Use Image
    • Choosing to hand wash, while not necessary, can help extend the lifespan.

Fill a small tub or sink with cold water and a small amount of mild detergent. Swish the detergent through the water to mix in and dissolve, and place your period underwear in the water.

Gently massage and release a few times before leaving them to soak for 10-15 minutes. Reusable period underwear may need some time to saturate properly—thanks to the ultra-absorbent internal layering.

      How to Use Image
    • After leaving it to sit, gently massage the underwear to get anything left in it out. The water might look a bit murky at this point—that’s how you know it’s working! Empty the water from the tub and rinse each pair under cold water until the water runs clear. Hang to dry.

Getting Started with the DIVA Cup

  • Before you begin
  • Folding Your Cup
  • Insertion and Removal
  • Care and Cleansing

    • Step One.

      How to Clean Menstrual Cup

Before using your DIVA Cup for the first time, sanitize it in a pot of boiling water for 5-10 minutes.

Tip: To prevent damage to your DIVA Cup should you forget it's boiling, place your cup inside a metal whisk. This will keep your menstrual cup from touching the bottom of the pot.

      How to Use Image
    • Step Two.

Learn How to Fold your DIVA Cup

There are two ways to fold your menstrual cup: The U-Fold and the Push-Down Fold. Both are easy to master and suitable for beginners.

      How to Use Image
    • U-Fold

Flatten your DIVA Cup and pinch it in half to create a U-shape.

      How to Use Image
    • Push-Down Fold

Hold the top rim of your DIVA Cup. With your index finger on the edge, push the rim down into the centre of the cup base to create a triangle.

      How to Use Image
    • Step Three. How to Insert a Menstrual Cup

How to Insert a Menstrual Cup

Wash your hands and get comfortable. While sitting on the toilet, or standing with one leg up on the bathtub, gently separate your labia with your free hand. Take a deep breath and relax your pelvic floor muscles.

      How to Use Image
    • Insert

Hold the folded cup between your thumb and forefinger and push the curved edge of the folded cup into your vagina horizontally.

      How to Use Image
    • Rotate

Once the DIVA Cup is in your vagina, grip the base of the cup (not the stem), and turn the cup one complete rotation—360 degrees. This will create a leakproof seal.

      How to Use Image
    • How To Remove Menstrual Cup

When it's time to empty your DIVA Cup, wash your hands. Pinch the base of your cup to release the seal. Never pull a menstrual cup by the base without releasing the seal first. Keep the cup pinched while gently easing it out, and empty your flow into the toilet, sink, or shower.

      How to Use Image
    • Step Four.

Wash your hands, wash your cup

Before insertion and after removal, wash your DIVA Cup with a mild, artificial fragrances free, oil-free soap like DIVA Wash.

      How to Use Image
    • Store it

Always use the cotton pouch to store your DIVA Cup between cycles. Keep your DIVA Cup away from perfumes and never store it in an airtight container.

FAQs

Yes— Made from 100% medical grade silicone, the DIVA Cup contains no added chemicals (no BPA), latex, dyes, or plastics. Also, if properly cleansed and cared for, and there are no signs of deterioration—your DIVA™ Cup is safe to use for up to several years.

Our underwear is made without added PFAS—a group of harmful "forever" chemicals that may be reproductively toxic, endocrine-disrupting, or cause skin sensitivities, and in an OEKO TEX 100 Certified facility.

Ultra-thin 4-way stretch fabric conforms to your body for secure comfort and protection.

Our unique DryTec™ fabric gusset wicks moisture away from the body into the leakproof internal layers for all-day dry comfort. These super absorbent layers hold up to 9 regular tampons (45ml) worth of menstrual flow.

Our zinc oxide infused gusset keeps you feeling fresh and comfortable all day. Zinc oxide is known for its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, and comes from a naturally occurring mineral, zincite, that has safely been used for thousands of years. It is used in many of everyday products.

We recommend at the end of each cycle; the DIVA™ Cup may be submerged in an open pan of boiling water (continuous rolling boil) for 5-10 minutes. Do not leave the boiling pot unattended and use enough water so that the pan does not boil dry.

Please know that boiling is not “mandatory”, it’s just a recommendation. Some consumers do not boil their cups at all, as regular cleansing with soap and water can be sufficient to maintain the integrity of the silicone.

Our period underwear is great for providing all-day confidence and
protection.

The 10" ultra absorbent gusset means maximum coverage,
replacing the need for 9 regular size tampons.

As the DIVA™ Cup is a personal care product, we recommend that you inspect your cup regularly for signs of deterioration such as a sticky or powdery film, severe discolouration, odor, etc. If you detect any deterioration, or if you experience irritation, we recommend you replace your DIVA™ Cup with a new one.

The lifespan of your menstrual cup may vary, depending on vaginal pH, how often and how well your cup is cleansed, what cleansing agents are used, etc. Our general guideline is that a DIVA™ Cup can last up to 5 years, but it is ultimately up to the consumer to decide when to replace their cup.
